Creating a new project

The start of a new project is always an opportunity to refine your workflow. A strong foundation ensures smoother execution and better results. At this stage, you should clearly define the project’s goals and workflow—keeping what worked well from past projects while introducing improvements where needed. Let’s explore how Backlogic helps you set up your project for success.

Step 1: Create a New Project

Go to your projects in the menu and click on the New Project button. You'll see a screen similar to this:

Choose a project name and a code (that will be used to construct story identifiers) and click next. You can always change the values later.

Step 2: Define the Project Objective & Details

Now you will be asked to describe the project objective and some details.

This is an opportunity to guide Backlogic and your team in the right direction. These values will be available on the project dashboard page, for the project team to see. Equally important, Backlogic will use the provided information in its AI prompt designed to hep you structure your project. If you take a minute now to be clear on a few things, you'll save a lot of time and effort during your project!

You can use free text and give as much information as you want. It helps to describe For example:

Objective

Create a stunning E-commerce website that sells shoes

Details

  • The website will target young adults

  • It will have a responsive mobile first design

  • It will be built in compliance with WCAG2.2 accessibility rules

When you're done, click next. You can always refine this at a later moment.

Step 3: Configure your Workflow and Settings

Backlogic now asks for some additional information to correctly configure your project:

A key part of this step is defining your project’s workflow, meaning the stages each item in your project will go through.

You have four options:

  1. Use Backlogic’s default workflow.
  2. Use your organization’s default workflow.
  3. Auto generate a workflow to fit this specific project’s needs.
  4. Leave the workflow empty for now, so you can configure it later

Many teams benefit from sticking to a proven workflow that suits their business and previous projects. However, if your project requires something unique, you can:

  • Create a custom workflow later.
  • Let Backlogic assist you in defining a workflow that aligns with your project’s goals as provided in the previous step.

Once you’ve made your selections, hit Create—and your project is ready to go! 🎉
